Why do you need renter’s insurance, even if you don’t think you have a lot of valuable items?

  1. Personally I think it's up to whoever is renting whether they want to buy renter's insurance or not. But, you should have it in case someone were to break into where you are renting or if it burns down or something.

  2. Because if something happens to the apartment the insurance would cover it and you wouldn't be responsible for paying your landlord out of your own pocket. Also if something happened to all of your possessions, no matter how valuable they were, you could at least be reimbursed financially.

  3. One should have renter's insurance (provided that they are renting) because renter's insurance will cover accidents or damages that happen on the rented property. If a friend gets hurt while he's helping you move in, if something catches the building on fire, if there any other natural disasters the insurance will reimburse the renter what is need to pay for the damages or recover items.

  7. Renters insurance is important because they can help you when either your housing/room gets damaged, or someone in your room/housing gets hurt, or someone steals something. The renters insurance will give you the money to cover these situations, so you won't have to take money out of your emergency fund and/or your income.

  8. Renter's insurance doesn't just cover you and your stuff. It will also cover any damage done to the building or the owners stuff. So renter's insurance helps both the owner and the renter.

  10. Because the building could catch on fire or aliens could take it over (actually that probably won't happen... but the aliens idea is still possible)
