Manuel earned a college degree in computer science and now works at a really laid-back dot-com. His high school business teacher asked him to speak at their annual job fair, not on the subject of working in computers, but on how to make a winning impression at the all-important first interview. As soon as he hangs up, he begins listing ideas. What should be on that list?
10 minutes early, dress nice, be prepared for any questions, feel free to ask the interview questions yourself, when signing applications use blue or black ink pens, write a resume and a cover letter and be sure to write a thank you note for the interviewer for taking time out of his day to interview you.
ReplyDeleteBe 10 to 5 minutes early, dress nicely (e.i no jeans/T-shirts/shorts), know the name of the person who is interviewing you, shake hands firmly, look them in the eye, avoid phrases such as "um" and "You know," answer questions at a good pace, be honest, Smile! and thank your interviewer for their time.
ReplyDeleteDress nicely because first impressions are important. The greeting is also a important part of the interview you need to shake their hand with confidence. It is also nice to have some questions to ask the employer about what you will be doing. Another good idea is to research the company and ask some employees about working there.
