May 2 - Online Discussion Question 4
Daniel just graduated from college. He earned a degree, but didn’t feel prepared for any line of work. He went to the school’s placement office and took a battery of tests to see where his strengths and weaknesses might lie. To some extent, he was surprised by the results. He knew he was strong in technical skills, but he didn’t realize his people skills were suspect. His adviser suggested that he get a job that will develop his weaker skills, because that’s where he will grow the most. Good advice?

I'd say that's not the greatest advice. You don't need a list of skills, you can stick with the skills you have and improve with them from there. If he had just graduated he can expect to find a job, and he should move from there. If he does end up wanting a differ job and needs differ skills for the job he should find work with his current degree so he can then save enough money for earning his next degree.
ReplyDeleteThis advice isn't really that great. People skills are important in many jobs, but not all. People develop the most in their areas of strength, not their areas of weakness. That is why this advice is not good. I would suggest that Daniel puruse a job that mainly uses his strengths, but will also help hims grow a little in his people skills.
ReplyDeleteHe shouldn't work on his weakness because he will hate every minute of it. It is important that he finds a job that he likes doing and worry more about what he likes and less about where he can improve in.

He should not work on his weakness because he won't like it at all. He should find a job that he likes and focus on his skills.
ReplyDeletehe shouldn't be in a job where he has to use and improve his weaknesses or he will hate every minute of it. he should find a job he loves to do and pursue that as a career

His advice isn't good at all. If he goes forward with this advice he will end up hating his job. He should focus on what he is good at and pursue a career in it.
ReplyDeleteThat is not good advice. He should look for a job that plays to his strengths, something he enjoys, otherwise, he will end up hating his job and he won't be as eager to work hard. It's always better to get a job based on what you love over what other people think you should do or how much money you want to earn.
ReplyDeleteNo, it is not good advice. He should focus on his strengths because that's where he has the most success. If he attempts to get a job that will focus on his weaknesses, he will come to hate it because he will not be passionate or successful at it.

No. He should get a job in an area where he's the strongest.

No he should find a job that uses what his srengths are
ReplyDeleteNo, he should focus on the skills he is already pretty good at.
ReplyDeleteno, it is good to improve on your weak areas, but you should generally work in a career that allows you to do something you can excel in, choosing something you aren't very good at could leave you very frustrated when you don't perform as well as you hope.
