November 15 - Online Discussion Question 1

How do men and women relate differently to money, and have you noticed any of these differences in your relationships?

  1. Most men think saving money is 'boring' and they would rather buy a boat or new sports car. Most women think saving is extremely important. When I go to camp Geneva, the guys are all spending there money on whatever, and the girls are leaving the camp with at least half of what they brought.

  3. Men think that saving is boring and not worth it. Women think more important than anything else.
I have noticed these differences in the spending habits and philosophies of my parents, although it doesn't cause any major problems.

  4. Men would rather spend their money on items that can be enjoyed right away, while women would rather save their money and purchase greater things down the road, and have savings to fall back on at the same time.
I've seen this in my family...my father would rather buy things and my mom would rather save money.

  5. Men don't think saving is important and get what they want when they want it. Women think saving is really important and save in the future for things or wait for them to go on sale. I have noticed this a little bit, but my mom does all the shopping with her coupons and my dad only goes shopping if he needs car or gun parts.

  6. Men seem to go to a place with what they have in mind to buy and buy only that item. Women will go a place for nothing and look for things to buy. Men see money as a social placement. While women see relationships as social placement. Some of these things I have noticed in my live but others I have not.

  7. I think men tend to go towards the, get it now, pay it later philosophy. Whereas women tend to save for items and plan ahead. I've noticed just by going to the mall with my friends.

  8. Women tend to plan ahead more, saving and looking for good deals, to most money is a security. while men tend to want more things that look cool right now like a fancy car, to them money tends to be more about what others think of them.

  10. Woman like to compare and hunt to find the best deal- no matter how long it takes. They also end up buying 20 things when they only meant to get 1. Men would rather go in and get out of a store as quick as possible. My parents are great examples of this.

  12. I think a lots of women spend there money on new clothes and such, sand some men do the same things… Then again, some are the total opposite and are all about saving money… I think it might have to do on how you were raised….
