March 28 - Online Discussion Question 2

In January, Aaron and Hannah moved and bought a new house with a 15-year fixed mortgage, just like Dave teaches. They needed some furniture. Hannah found what she wanted at a high-end store. She is ready to buy, credit card in hand, when she realized she’d better call Aaron. He tells her he’ll be right there, and then he calls you, the only local person he knows. Where can they look to get a better deal? What can he suggest to Hannah to keep her from acting in haste?

    Save, no credit cards!! Maybe wait for a better deal also, and then try to negotiate an even better deal.

    He should suggest to Hannah that they pay with cash, saving up if they need to. Cash has a lot of power! Using cash and other negotiating techniques they can try to knock off a few dollars from the pricetag.

    Oh, they should also look around (in as many places as possible) to make sure they can't find the same furniture for a lower price or find some furniture that they like better.

    First of all, don't use a credit card. If they used cash, they could probably get a better deal at that high end store. Another option would be to look at a discount store or a thrift store, but if they don't have enough money for either option right now, they would need to wait and save enough money to be able to purchase what they want.

    1. DON'T BUY ON CREDIT, EVER!
    2. don't get married to an item, usually you can get a better deal that way
    3. shop around to make sure you get the best deal, and also ask for a better deal
    4. look places like ditto, thrift stores, hotel furniture stores etc.

    She should be using cash instead of credit, because credit can pile quickly. If they use cash they won't have to worry about it, plus they can negotiate to get a better deal than before! Looking at thrift shops or even online can save you a lot of money.

    Negotiate or go to a consignment shop! Never use a credit card, they should use cash instead.

    Instead of a credit card they should use cash. They should shop around and see if they can get the furniture cheaper or try to negotiate.

    Look around for a better deal before buying, negotiate the price, and use cash to pay for it.

    She sounds like shes becoming married to the furniture and therfor is probly going to lose negotiation power on already high priced funiture. they should be looking around for a better deal, use cash and try to bargain.

    DON'T USE THE CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!!!! Save, make sure she has walk away power. And maybe don't go to a high-end store… look around, see what your options are..

    They need to look around for used furniture that looks like new. If they do they need to use cash and try to bargain with them for a better price.
